Well I went to the YMCA yesterday and did a cycle class. I tried to be really gentle with the transitions from sitting to standing because that's where I can really make my vagina hurt. It went pretty well during the class and it was good to get back out there and do an exercise that I enjoy. Last night my vagina did burn a bit, and today I have noticed that I've been sitting more gingerly and I have a bit of burning. I think I will try to do spinning once a week and see how that goes. I don't want to over do it, but I also want to do spinning! It's such a good workout. I will have to take it slow and make sure that I'm not causing myself unnecessary pain just so I can get some exercise. That would defeat the purpose I think.

You tried spinning? One of my co-workers asked me to join him at a spinning class and I was like "Absolutely not." I didn't mean to sound so harsh, it just came out. And he was like what why not and I told him I can't sit on the seat. Which probably makes no sense because I didn't say why I can't use the seat.
But no spinning for me - yoga sounds better to me.
Yeah, I don't think I have the same problem that a lot of other bloggers I've seen have. My pain is more internal and my actual vulva area really doesn't have any pain. Sitting for long periods of time does cause a lot of burning, but again, it's internal. So sitting on the hard bike seat is uncomfortable and it can make my symptoms worse, but that's why I'm trying to start slow. Like I said, all my pain is internal, so I might be able to do some types of activities that our other blogger friends can't do.
Also, I have been told by several people that yoga is a great exercise for people with vaginal problems because it really helps you relax and strengthen your entire body, including your pelvic floor. I'm not very good at it, but it is relaxing. If only I could touch my toes! One yoga instructor was actually so shocked at how inflexible I am she had to feel the tightness herself before she would really believe me. She said that I was the most inflexible person she'd ever seen! But I try my best. I'm really good at the baby pose and Savasana!
yoga isn't the answer for some. It is bad for people who have hip labral tears or at a risk for it. alot of women with hip labral tears suffer from vulvar pain, myself included and will never do yoga again! the key is finding an exercise that you like and doesn't hurt you!
That's true. There's no one solution for everyone.
Yikes! I'm in shock that you can spin. I know we don't have the same diagnosis, but it makes me hurt just thinking about it :)
Speaking of diagnoses, do you have one? I've looked through your blog, but I guess I can't find anywhere in which you say exactly what a doctor has diagnosed you with.

I have been diagnosed so far just with Vaginismus, but that is just an umbrella term for many issues. I have an appointment with Dr. Goldstein in April and I will hopefully get a diagnosis then. Although, I've hard so many terrible things about him that I'm actually trying to find a different doctor in the meantime.
I can sort of do exercise, but after doing that spinning class I can feel that I really have to limit it. My vagina has felt more sensitive since then. But yes, I can do it without having any severely intense pain. So I'm lucky there.
Thank you for the recommendation. I don't know about you all, but I have found it incredibly hard to search for these vagina doctors online. There's just not that much info out there for all us girls in the Crabby Crotch Crew (just made that up, made me giggle).

Oh yes, it is SO HARD to find a good vagina doctor. I've also heard both positive and negative patient reviews regarding Goldstein. It's difficult to wade through all the information and make a choice.
I've also been diagnosed with vaginismus, so we do share one diagnosis. I would think most pelvic pain women have some level of it.
For about $25 you can get a very nice padded bike seat.
They have padded seats at the Y, but for some reason they make it more uncomfortable for me. :/
